What are the meanings of these songs?

There are a few songs on the radio right now, that I realize that I don't really understand what the message of the artist is...so what do these songs mean?

Hotel California - Eagles

Chasing Cars - Um....can't remember the group right now

What are the meanings of these songs?
Hotel California is about drug addiction. I don't know anything about the other song.
Reply:I KINDA LIKE THOSE SONGS 2 BUT I ALSO DON'T GET IT
Reply:I think hotel california tells u that when u get entangled in the web of lifes illusions and get addicted to the pleasure one experiences it's impossible to let go and leave even if u want to leave u can't coz the web is so appealing and ur soul gets trapped in it anyways.

I've quoted the lyrics for u just c if my meaning is right or maybe u'd find some other meaning from it too :)

Hotel California

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair

Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air

Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light

My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim

I had to stop for the night

There she stood in the doorway;

I heard the mission bell

And I was thinking to myself,

'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell'

Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way

There were voices down the corridor,

I thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California

Such a lovely place

Such a lovely face

Plenty of room at the Hotel California

Any time of year, you can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes bends

She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends

How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.

Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain,

'Please bring me my wine'

He said,'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'

And still those voices are calling from far away,

Wake you up in the middle of the night

Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California

Such a lovely place

Such a lovely face

They livin' it up at the Hotel California

What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,

The pink champagne on ice

And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device'

And in the master's chambers,

They gathered for the feast

The stab it with their steely knives,

But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was

Running for the door

I had to find the passage back

To the place I was before

'Relax,'said the night man,

We are programmed to receive.

You can checkout any time you like,

but you can never leave.

This other song as i think of it is....the guy wants to feel his lovers love and wants her company to do watever he does and he needs in his life constantly as his partner, wants her to understand him and not bother wat the world has to say about him but he wants her approval and her love so that he can just follow his passion for life and it's mysteries. When he says chasing cars he means the new experiences he wants to face and live in the new changing circumstances, but he wants his love to be with him when he goes thru anything. He wants to experience and live the only happiness he'd get from his love and find comfort in her arms alone. It's a song over trusting and bonding. thats how i c it go thru the lyrics and c if u find any other opinion then mine :D

Snow Patrol ---%26gt;Eyes Open (2006) ----%26gt; Chasing Cars

"Chasing Cars"

We'll do it all

Everything

On our own

We don't need

Anything

Or anyone

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know

How to say

How I feel

Those three words

Are said too much

They're not enough

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told

Before we get too old

Show me a garden that's bursting into life

Let's waste time

Chasing cars

Around our heads

I need your grace

To remind me

To find my own

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told

Before we get too old

Show me a garden that's bursting into life

All that I am

All that I ever was

Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see

I don't know where

Confused about how as well

Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?
Reply:chasing cars is just a standard issue love song. (by Snow Patrol in case you haven't remembered yet). Just about that guy loving some lucky lady.

The others above are all right about Hotel California
Reply:Chasing Cars. It's by Snow Patrol. It's a love song. The person in the song is willing to risk everything just to be with the person he loves, and he does not care about anything else. It's somewhat a selfish song, with lyrics that go "Forget what we're told before we get too old". But it's one of my favorite songs.

Hotel California. it's been said here a couple of time. i suggest that you click on this link. everyhting they said is here. and more.

Reply:i love hoàtel of california its music but really when i can't find a video clip to the song i can't understand what they want to mean by that song but i think the eagles are describing their journey and when they stopped at that hotel they met ((i mean one of them or one person)) he met a pretty girl and he liked her so much he liked also the atmosphere of that hotel and people there it is so special i love it

but tell me when know the rest
Reply:Hotel California is about the complications of becoming too heavily involved with sex, drugs and rock'n'roll. I don't know about "Chasing Cars".
