Evanescence? Song Meaning?
I think it's about lies, you know- people pretend to be someone else to fit in, or be popular. But by acting like that, it more or less likely means that you don't know yourself, and every day you lie to yourself, you get more and more lost in your lies.


I don't know if that makes sense...it's just my interpretation.

Reply:i think it may have ambiguos meanings, for example, she is "feeding her 'family' lies" so it could be that she is unable to tell them the truth or does not want to tell them the truth about something that has happened to her...then again, maybe the fact of being "everybodies fool" could show that she is being forced to feed people lies and was such a fool to herself, and is regarded as a fool by everyone, if you kind of get what i mean...sorry but i dont really listen to their songs so i dont really know...but yeah, thats actually an alright song so i think its kinda changed my opinion of the group/artist





i think the songs got something to do with the feeding lies, but im not too sure...

Amy Lee wrote this after her younger sister started dressing as Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears, which angered Amy.


I think it is told from the point of view of someone like Amy's sister, who once worshipped some celebrity, but now realizes how fake and shallow that person is. I especially get this impression in the lines "Oh, how we love you" and then later in "I know the truth now...and I don't love you anymore".


It's somewhat along the lines of "Bring Me To Life" in that it's about waking up to the truth/reality.

It's probably idolizing someone who you believe is flawless, but then perfection becomes a goal that becomes impossible to achieve as the person will later find out. The idol becomes full of lies from her "mask" of perfection, and then she realizes that her idol was never what she thought she was.
Reply:I always thought about how people are so fake with who they are and what they do to get where they are in the industry. Like models and actresses. How they use make up and get plastic surgery to look better. She is so amazing and I love her so much.
Reply:for me it's about the things that happen behind closed doors and the pain u might have to put up with like depression, or other things and then putting on a mask to hide it and trick other ppl.
