Have you ever really tried to get the meanings of all of the verses and stuff in songs? I mean, these songs go really, really deep! For example, Fall out Boys thks fr th mmrs, i am not completley sure on the meaning but if you go to some websites where people try to get the manings of these, they are really interesting like on this song it is talking about Pete's friend chris and if you read it it is amazing! And if this really is what the dong means then just think about the band when they were writing this song...it sort of makes you realize that there is more to a song than writing down some lyrics and putting a lil music to it...it is kind of like that with that song by Emerson Drive, moments...i had no idea that the guy was about to commit suicide but the homeless dude saved him...i just thought this was kind of interesting...

Dual Meanings?

A lot of songs have dual meanings. Some are intended to and others are just the subjects of personal interpretation. Recently I noticed that the song 'listen to your heart' apart from being about a women not knowing when to trust her heart can also closely resemble the issue of my enigmatical identity. I prefer to interpret the words 'listen to your heart before you tell him goodbye' as my struggles when I feel that I am losing myself to the world but must strive to maintain my values, beliefs and virtues. Have you applied personal connotations to a song? what is the name of it and what does it mean to you?

Dual Meanings?
Rape Me - By Nirvana. I interpret this song to be saying - Come on, bring it on. Do your absolute worst to me. Do the thing I fear most. I'll survive. I'll learn how to move on and you will still be the evil creature you always were. Even though people can do such horrid things there is always something down deep inside that no one can touch.

Why do people ask questions on here when they can search the net themselves?

I don't understand why people do this so much. It is so easy to search the net for the right answers, which is probably what the people answering will do anyway, so why bother asking? Why not just search yourself? There is even a search box on here for you to search the web for the answer. Granted, some questions may be difficult to find the answer to and this is a great help in that respect, but I have seen people asking about song lyrics, meanings of acronyms, where to but stuff etc, all of which can be found with a single search. So, why bother with this?


I know answering the questions can become addictive, trying to answer first after searching the web, but the askers - why do they do it when they can just search themselves and save time?

Sometimes people do not know exactly what they are looking for To find on the internet because it can be confusing. Often they are looking for human contact and not just a cold web site page. Many people find comfort in connecting with others through this service. I would much more prefer an answer from a person who has experienced many different things in life than using a search engine.

Timbuk 3's song "The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades" is also an apocalyptic song. The brightness alludies to a nuclear explosion that turns the sky so bright you can't go outside without sunglasses. Don't laugh at me by Mark Wills has a great message and I am sure you can find some analogies in it. Long Black Train by Josh Turner (already mentioned above). The Gambler by Kenny Rogers or Coward of the County by Kenny Rogers both talk about choosing your battles and knowing when to walk away (Coward of the County is probably the better bet for school). Another one is I hope you Dance by Lee Ann Womack which is very much like The River by Garth Brooks.

I've been writing song I can get good meanings in the lyrics. But I can't get the melody. My songs are meant to sound like Weezer, Jimmy Eat World and Sonic Youth. But I can't just come up with the melody. Help pls!

You'll probably find a lot of musicians who tell you to find your own meaning...you'll also find many who may give you an idea of what they intended when the wrote the song...but don't discount how it feels to you.

Recently, ( a few months ago) I bought the Blue October album and really like it because the lead singer suffers from Bipolar disorder. Even the upbeat songs are pretty dark if you listen to the words or know what it is about. One is Hate me today.... THe video is awesome you have to watch it.... And another one about a ship going to shore. The video is about a cruise ship and it deals with getting over wanting to kill yourself.





Also, Nirvana is always good, for sure.... Tori Amos she has remade a couple of Nirvana songs that are great. Good luck

The Song "Liberation" which uses quotes from Anne Frank's diary spoke to me of hope in the worst circumstances.





"17 Again" by the Eurythmics has the lines "Thought that you'd done everything, you didn't have a clue". It reminded me how disastrous my university attempt was because I hadn't realised how much of a problem Asperger's was at university.
