Why do people ask questions on here when they can search the net themselves?

I don't understand why people do this so much. It is so easy to search the net for the right answers, which is probably what the people answering will do anyway, so why bother asking? Why not just search yourself? There is even a search box on here for you to search the web for the answer. Granted, some questions may be difficult to find the answer to and this is a great help in that respect, but I have seen people asking about song lyrics, meanings of acronyms, where to but stuff etc, all of which can be found with a single search. So, why bother with this?

I know answering the questions can become addictive, trying to answer first after searching the web, but the askers - why do they do it when they can just search themselves and save time?

Why do people ask questions on here when they can search the net themselves?
Sometimes people do not know exactly what they are looking for To find on the internet because it can be confusing. Often they are looking for human contact and not just a cold web site page. Many people find comfort in connecting with others through this service. I would much more prefer an answer from a person who has experienced many different things in life than using a search engine.
Reply:Good question, but was it really worth 5 points?
Reply:This very question has been asked so many times. So answer this question yourself.
Reply:Because it's easier, and Ajith quit calling me old. lol
Reply:because its called QUESTIONS%26amp;ANSWERS
Reply:I think people like reading anwers from different people. It can give the asker different perspectives.
Reply:I'm sure if you google that, you'll find something.
Reply:yesterday i tried checking the net for an answer but couldnt find what i was looking for so i asked on here. also on here i get points
Reply:More fun to do it this way!
Reply:Often wondered that myself.
Reply:cuz they're lazy.
Reply:Well, people use Yahoo! Answers to ask questions for a number of reasons:

1) Primarily, to get answers

2) To get answers without much effort, when compared to searching for it yourself.

3) To get answers to questions that would be unknown to the internet but known to you because you have been through a similar circumstance

4) To support Yahoo! Answers and to help other users get points for answering questions

5) Because it is free. Many people abuse, over use or use products/services just because they are free
Reply:I've wondered the same thing myself, just like I've wondered why people waste 5 points asking questions that have already been asked countless times before (and then complain that their point total never goes up, lol).
Reply:Silly, isn't it.
Reply:Some don't know how to research, some don't want to research, some don;t care to
Reply:Amen to that...you're on the ball, and Yahoo's been crumbling lately in our 360 Blog section, and by bouncing emails with links in them (that aren't Yahoo links), so they're the talk of town. I went to one link for a problem and it wasn't there.

To give people credits (points) for giving Yahoo "hits" is suspect, IMHO, as well. Its time the Internet community grew up, before we are all sorry because we've "missed the point."
Reply:just 4 the social interaction, when you're bored, i suppose :)
Reply:Ive often wondered that too.
Reply:you mean like this one?

this one has already been asked loads of times, you can already find it on the internet.

in fact, when i typed it in myself "here" just now to check, several of the same question came up as already having been asked.

so pergaps the answer lies within yourself....

"how come you asked the question when you could have easily found your answer by not doing so?"
Reply:some don't know how to search on the net and get lost, some are lazy
Reply:Maybe just for the fun of it. Also it helps others get points. Sometimes they just want others opinions. Each person has their own opinion and maybe that it what they are looking for.
Reply:Just tell me "Y do u take the help of ur ELDERS in some situations y dont u just search INTERNET for solution, it is becoz ELDERS provide u BEST solution as they r Experienced"

Similarly some people know much about a topic while other dont know anything about it. In that case KNOWN can provide a better answer to that TOPIC to UNKNOWN than INTERNET.

So generally Questions r posed here for Answers
Reply:I asked the same question 3 days ago - beats me.

Just lazy or trying to get points in some indirect way. The problem with this is that it clouds the situation with lots of chaff and non-serious questions. I'm not saying this should just be a serious forum but people need to have proper motives and not just muck about.
