Hidden meanings in songs?

I was just looking at a web page of 80's music and it was talking about cold war songs..

I never realized untill now that "Wild Wild West" (Escape club song). was in fact a cold war song...

here's some examples..

siting in the back room waiting for the "big boom" (nuclear war)

Sherrif's on the air waves talking to the dj's (warnings)

Susie's in the backroom handing out valium (sounds like a precaution)

Oh and of course

ronnie's got a new gun (Ronald Reagen with his military buildup of the 80's)

Hidden meanings in songs?
Timbuk 3's song "The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades" is also an apocalyptic song. The brightness alludies to a nuclear explosion that turns the sky so bright you can't go outside without sunglasses. However, a lot of folks misinterpreted the song and adopted it as their theme song, thinking it describes the fantastic future they envision for tthemselves. It's kind of amusing how these people, who think they are so smart, pick a theme song that isn't close to meaning what they think it means.

Anyway, to give you something for your two points, did you know the song "Golden Brown" by the Sranglers is all about Heroin?

Reply:I always thought bit was just gay club music. Learn something new everyday.
Reply:Uh, some songs have hidden meanings but this one is pretty much right out there. Sometimes the music is so catchy we just don't listen to the lyrics that well.
