Have you got a song that you loved that now reminds you of a break-up?

And do you like it more or less now?

Why?

Mine is 'I want you' by Elvis Costello. Loved that song but the words have whole new meanings to me now. Even after many years, it will never sound like it used to.

Have you got a song that you loved that now reminds you of a break-up?
Well, apart from the one you named I have to be embarrasingly honest and say "Somebody to love" as performed by Jim Carry in the film The Cable Guy.

It was "our song" and now it´s just ruined.

The whole film is ruined.

Wow... I answered a question seriously, and you made me do it, you fiend!

edit: tell the whole world, why don´t you.
Reply:when an old g/f decided to end it i was devastated. not because she ended it, we had a 18month old son and i thought that i'd lost everything...

U2's "one " did it for me.

now i'm single again after a marriage of 6 years and three beautiful little girls.

guess that because i'm relieved that my kids dont have to see us ripping each other apart for the rest of theyre lives is some consolation and i've yet to hear a song to remind me of how i feel right now.

although the foos "the best of you", scrapes somewhere close to how i may feel later on.

"Good intentions only break good hearts,

no-one's willing to play that part,"

You b@stard, you've set me off now...
Reply:This brings back memories, and not many of them good, either. The song was 'Kyrie' by Mr. Mister. I always hated the song, but he liked it - played it %26amp; sang it all the time (clearly a man with questionable taste - he WAS going out with me at the time, after all).

Anyway, he was kind of a jerk, but the sex was good so it lasted longer than it should have. Eventually I had to move to Florida just to get that stupid song out of my head. Well, and to get rid of him, too.

Ugh. I STILL hate that song.

It was the only time I felt close.....awwwwwwww!
Reply:Mine is "Monday Monday" by The Mama's And Papa's. Hate that song now. Cant listen to it, cant sing it.
Reply:A real oldie, it was old when hit was a special song...Just The Way You Look Tonight". I seldom hear it, but when I do I still get a little pang after all these years.

I hear it and I remember feeling very beautiful and special and wishing time would stand still when he had it played for us.
Reply:don't stop believing "by journey. I still love that song, and it is enlighting every time I hear it.

Reply:I Say A Little Prayer, Aretha Franklin. I like it less now. I still like it because it's a good song, but after 4 years the bastard phoned me up when I was in France and said "it's over" with no explanation as to why. Won't be saying any prayers for him any more, at least not to god!
Reply:I had just got back with my my husband after a bad split, we had moved into a new house together and Take That's Want You Back For Good kept playing on the radio and in my head lol...now, years after our final break, I still feel the old heart strings tugging when I hear it...
Reply:everyday i love you less and less -kaiser chiefs

used to like it but then when my ex and I split he used to put it on cd player then go and have a shower.....

but now i sing it and it reminds me of what a git he was

another one is do you think you're better off alone, can;t remember who it was by, but it came on radio day after my mum told me her and my dad were splitting up..... still gets me now!
Reply:I used to really like Short Short Man by 20 fingers, I think. Then my blokey dumped me when it was playing, about 5years ago. So it used to make me cry. But then I realised he really was a Short Short Man - 5ft (and im 5ft 3)!!So now it makes me chuckle!!!!!
Reply:move closer cant mind who sang it!
Reply:Not because of the song's content but because when I found out my ex was e-mailing some other woman she'd asked him what song was running through his head. He'd replied "Jane Say's" by Jane's Addiction. This wouldn't have seemed important except it was one of my favourite songs and he knew that. It's ruined for me now.
