What does the term "white picket fences" means in song lyrics?

I come from a place where English is taught as second language, so sometimes I don't understand something that may have several meanings or meanings connected with different culture or values.

What does the term "white picket fences" means in song lyrics?
A "picket fence" is a type of fence that many people in the U.S. used to put around their properties; it's not necessarily supposed to be COMPLETELY impenetrable; a picture can be found here:

The idea of a cozy house with a white picket fence was for a long time promoted as a cultural ideal of a "dream house" for many people in the 1930's, 1940's, and 1950's. Starting in the 1960's, people who didn't achieve this ideal -- or want it -- began to speak up, and other people who grew up in such a "dream house" also began to speak up about how things that LOOKED perfect weren't always, and the term "white picket fence" became more often used to describe the conventional, happy ideal that people are encouraged to want to "fit in", but not everyone gets, or even wants.
