Different meanings of a song by an artist, WTF??

"Videos, in my opinion, is that it takes away from you expanding your mind at all the possibilities of a songs meaning. Most songs have several ways that you can interpret them."

WHY??..why an artist want to write a song that has several meanings?...I think that if you want to spread your thoughts you want that people actually understand want you're telling them and that they get the message right. Don't you?

Different meanings of a song by an artist, WTF??
Everyone interprets songs based on their own personal experiences, and a video can colour that perception.

To use the example of books as opposed to videos, when you're reading a book, you picture the characters and scenes in a particular way in your mind. When there is a movie adaptation, you might be disappointed by how it doesn't match up to what is in your head. Similarly, if you see a movie then read the book, when you picture it as you read you'll see the actors and the sets from the movie. You won't be using your imagination as much.

The same holds true for songs. Songs bring up feelings and ideas in everyone, and no two people are alike. To have a video that puts forth someone else's ideas about the song might limit the thought that someone puts into interpretation.
Reply:take for example the song hotel california by the eagles. some think its abt satanism while some think its abt drugs. there are also others who think that its abt the entertainment industry. the general consensus is that by purposely leaving the listener pondering abt the meaning of the song; that itself is an art form. paintings, metaphors, poems etc are good examples of this idea. i think it also depends on how you relate to the song... there are of course songs whose lyrics are hard to interpret what they're talking abt... to me, it doesn;t matter what a song means... as long as its nice.. i will like it.
